Immerhass IV battle report

So the first battle in the campaign has been fought over the "Ares Badlands".  This tile grants the owner Fury which allows the controlling faction to launch two attacks per turn.  The attacking army is a force of 920 points of Space Marines run by Sean.  The defenders are 640 points of Chaos Space Marines by me.  A very lopsided battle indeed.

The scenerio played was "Capture and Control" with "Pitched Battle" deployment.

The Space Marines consisted of:
  • Captain in Power Armor with Storm Bolter and Power Weapon
  • Dreadnought with Assault Cannon and CCW
  • 10 Man Tactical Squad with 1 Plasma Gun and 1 Heavy Bolter, Sergeant with Power Weapon and Plasma Pistol
  • 10 Man Tactical Squad with 1 Plasma Gun and 1 Heavy Bolter, Sergeant with Power Weapon and Plasma Pistol in a Rhino
  • Land Speeder Tornado
  • Devastator Squad with 4 Missile Launchers and 1 Sergeant

The Chaos Space Marine force consisted of:
  • 1 Chaos Sorcerer with Mark of Slaanesh, Force Weapon, Plasma Pistol, Lash of Submission
  • 5 Noise Marines with 4 Sonic Blasters, 1 Blastmaster in a Rhino
  • 6 Noise Marines with 4 Sonic Blasters, 1 Blastmaster, Noise Champion with Sonic Blaster, Doom Siren, and Power Weapon in a Rhino
The Chaos Space Marines set up a defensive position with one squad on the their objective on the hill on the far right.  The second squad containing the Sorcerer set up behind the woods in the center of the board, hoping to flush out the Loyalists sitting on their objective.

The Space Marines set up in an outpost in the center of the board where their objective was place.  The Dreadnought and second Tactical Squad to their left and the Tornado to the right.  The Devastators set up in the ruins to the far right.

The Space Marines got the first move with everything except the Captain and his squad moving forward.  The Tornado moved over the wood to threaten my left flank, while the dreadnought and Rhino mounted Tactical Squad went after my objective.   Shooting was not that effective as only one Noise Marine fell to the Dreadnought's assault cannon.

My turn was less than successful.  With only two squads, there wasn't much to do.  My Rhino moved to threaten the devastators and all shots against the Loyalists only resulted in two casualties and an immobilized Rhino.

The second turn was disasterous for the Slaaneshi followers.  The rhino was torn apart by the missile launchers and only a smoking crater was left of its existance.  The two squads were ripped apart by the assault cannons of the Tornado and Dreadnought.  In the end, only the Sorcerer and one member of his squad were left.  The other squad guarding the objective was cut down to three.  Ouch!!

The remnants shot back, only taking a few more marines with them.  The last turn resulted in the last of the Chaos worshippers being gunned down.  With no one left on the board, the game ended in a massacre.
